This is a personal one for all of you who’ve taken on the title of Budget Conscious Mom and are in need of something to help transport your child. An easily transportable stroller is invaluable when it comes to transporting your little one, whether it be just putting the stroller in the back of your car, or taking it on vacation with you. Not only are we looking for the best travel stroller, but we are also looking at the best strollers for air travel as well.
Quick Picks: Best Travel Stroller
Why You Need One
You don’t have to be travel-obsessed to understand the glory of a stroller that easily fits in your car’s trunk. Everyday strollers tend to be chunkier, heavier, and not as transportable depending on the make and model; this can make traveling difficult, whether it’s out to the park, on a vacation, or on a dream getaway across the world. That’s where a travel stroller comes in. They’re lightweight, foldable, more compact, and some even come with convenient carrying straps.
What to Look For
There’s so many strollers on the market today, how do you know what to look for? It seems like there’s endless amounts of different sizes, materials, ease of foldability, and the amount of cup holders. To help out, we’ve narrowed down a few of the top things to take into consideration when shopping for your travel stroller.
- Lightweight. Strollers have a wide variety of materials and sizes, meaning the weight can vary greatly between models. While it’s not necessary to find the lightest possible stroller on the market, it is important to consider the weight and how this contributes to ease of travel.
- Right size and fit. Make sure your child fits the recommended height and weight requirements.
- Foldability. Whether it’s finding a corner at a restaurant or putting it in the car, you’ll want a stroller that easily folds into a compact size.
- Durability. Let’s be honest – airport security doesn’t care how much you paid for your stroller. They’re going to toss it around just like all the other luggage anyway; meaning you’ll want a durable stroller that’s able to take the roughness of traveling.
- Amenities. Things such as cup holders and storage baskets don’t necessarily come standard on some strollers. But if you’re travelling, you’ll definitely want easily accessible storage on your stroller.

The Clutch Stroller by Delta Children – Best Stroller for Air Travel
While this stroller may look a little different than a traditional stroller, it folds up so compactly and easily that you won’t care what it looks like. It’s for children up to 50 pounds and meets Disney requirements. It weighs in at only 11.7 pounds, making it one of the most lightweight strollers you’ll find. Perfect for vacations, The Clutch Stroller fits in overhead compartments on planes, subways, and takes up very little space in vehicles with its 2 second easy fold. Even though it’s super light, it still boasts some of our favorite features in a stroller such as a large under carriage basket, sun visor, and large swivel wheels for easy maneuverability.
The coolest thing about this compact stroller is that it’s one of the lightest on the market, coming in a at only thirteen pounds. Since it’s an ultralight stroller, it is agile and fits in the car or in the trunk easily, just unfold and you are back on the go. The stroller is equipped with the basics in stroller technology such as a five point harness for safety, a canopy for protection from the elements, a storage basket big enough to fit a conservative diaper bag, and of course, a parking brake that is foot activated. Food for thought: this stroller has a comfy padded fixed seat, but you won’t be able to lean your baby back for naps.
This particular umbrella stroller is meant for one child, and you’re looking at about 37 pounds for the maximum weight. The frame is extremely lightweight at only eleven pounds, and it comes with a little over the shoulder holster bag, making it pretty portable. The nice thing for your child is the fact that it’s not a fixed seat, so you can let your baby lean back and relax. It also has an all wheel suspension system for rough terrain and the wheels in the front have swivel locks, so this thing can really maneuver. To cover all our bases, this stroller does have a 5 point harness as well as a nice sunshade, a large storage organizer, and folds up to fit in and out of the tightest places with ease.
The Baby Jogger Vue Lite Stroller is a great travel stroller because of its ability to turn into a car seat if you purchase an adapter for your car. This makes it extremely convenient for air travel because there’s no need to bring a car seat and a stroller; it’s all one! Also, the seat itself can turn to face you or it can face away from you, with multiple recline options in each direction. There is also a sun shade which is 50+ SPF, so your kid will be safe from the suns rays.
When it comes down to it, you have to pick the one that’s right for you and your lifestyle. If you travel often, I would recommend The Clutch stroller because it’s easily convertible from a stroller to a car seat. If you want a stroller that’s compact, yet has all the bells and whistles, I would go with the 3Dlite Summer stroller. Think about what your needs are, and pick a stroller based on that. You can’t go wrong with any of these top travel strollers!
